Unsung Grace

The hymn's oft-sung, worldwide, but here's a verse from Amazing Grace, which John Newton penned that should be sung often, and isn't at all:
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.

yes, among the MANY verses of that song are quite a few gems. Newton knew how to keep a rhythm going, and Cowper how to rend the heart at the turn of a line.

And here's a few verses from a never-sung great Newton/Cowper song:

“The Lord will provide”

1 Though troubles assail,
And dangers affright,
Though friends should all fail,
And foes all unite;
Yet one thing secures us,
Whatever betide,
The Scripture assures us,
The Lord will provide.

3 We may, like the ships,
By tempests be tost
On perilous deeps,
But cannot be lost:
Though Satan enrages
The wind and the tide,
The promise engages,
The Lord will provide.

7 No strength of our own,
Or goodness, we claim;
Yet since we have known
The Savior’s great name,
In this our strong tow'r
For safety we hide,
The Lord is our pow'r,
The Lord will provide.

8 When life sinks apace,
And death is in view,
This word of his grace
Shall comfort us through;
No fearing nor doubting
With Christ on our side,
We hope to die shouting,
The Lord will provide.
